About the show:
Shakespeare's classic comedy of mischief, music, and mistaken identity unfolds under the open sky. A shipwreck separates Viola from her twin brother, Sebastian, and leaves her stranded in an unfamiliar land. Determined to survive, she disguises herself as a young man and steps into a world already brimming with longing, desire, and barely contained emotion.
In the neighboring households of Olivia and Orsino, love runs wild and rarely in the right direction. Affections are misplaced, identities are blurred, and even the ever-proper steward Malvolio is drawn into the chaos. As music fills the air and disguises deepen the confusion, Twelfth Night unfolds into a joyful tangle of unrequited love, comic mischief, and unexpected possibility—where nothing is quite as it seems, and anything can happen.

In the summer of 2025, A Midsummer Night’s Dream kicked off a new theatre tradition in Walla Walla. Shakespeare Under the Stars brought over 1,000 audience members together over two weekends to enjoy the music of Shakespeare’s words (along with bluegrass music) as the sun set and the stars came out at the stunning Echolands Winery. Thank you to everyone who joined us and we look forward to sharing a summer evening with everyone again in August of 2026!

General admission requires no reservation, and seating is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
Admission is pay-what-you-will — donations appreciated!
Seating is provided. Folding chairs are set up for your convenience. If you prefer picnic/blanket seating, we have a space for you as well!

The Poet’s Porch is our only section of reserved seating. Think “box seats” with tables for any beverages you purchase through table service or at the bar. All Poet’s Porch seats are front-row seats with a view of the action — this year the view will be from the front instead of from stage left!

Yes! Just no outside alcohol, please.

Echolands is a ~15-minute drive from downtown Walla Walla, so give yourself a little extra time than a typical Walla Walla 5-10 minute drive ;)
To park and save your seat, we recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before showtime (7:00 pm). Plus, the Oh Brothers bluegrass band will be playing some pre-show tunes!
Feel free to arrive even earlier to enjoy a glass of wine and take in the view before the show!
No latecomers please! This is disruptive to the performers and your fellow audience.
